Daniel C. Ayscue is an associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on the implementation and marketing of Credit Risk Migration Analysis products and processes to financial institutions. Prior to joining CRM, Daniel served as Chief Credit Officer, Chief Financial Officer and President / Chief Executive Officer for Alliance Bank and Trust between the years of 2004 and 2013. Daniel was instrumental in the organizational and start-up phase of the Bank as well as secondary capital offerings.
Daniel began his career at BB&T where he completed the Commercial Credit Training program in 1990. He then served as Vice President of Commercial Lending for BB&T Financial, in Charlotte NC. As a commercial development officer, Daniel was responsible for the development and management of a commercial portfolio within the greater Charlotte metropolitan area...In September of 2001, Daniel moved to a Group Vice President, Senior Lending Officer for Western North Carolina at SouthTrust Bank, where he oversaw all development and management of the commercial lending portfolio in Western NC footprint of the Bank.
In 2003, Daniel joined the Corporate Lending Group of SouthTrust as Group Vice President, where he focused on the development and management of operating companies with revenues in excess of 50 million dollars. Daniel received his BSBA with an emphasis on Banking from Appalachian State University in 1989, where he was ranked #1 in his major. Daniel is a Graduate of the NC Commissioner of Banks Director Program and is a prior instructor at the NC School of Banking, Chapel Hill, NC.
Jeff Berkson is a Director within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on business intelligence. His experience with CRM includes due diligence, quantitative modeling, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Jeff led the design and development of CRM's Executive Risk Management dashboard and Dodd-Frank Act Stress Test forecasts. Prior to joining CRM, Jeff was the Chief Information Officer for Anchor Bank, a $3B Wisconsin bank, where he focused on business intelligence, commercial relationship management self-service analytics, credit risk mitigation, financial and loss modeling, ERM program and system implementation, and Enterprise Data Warehouse design and development. Jeff was an active participant in the bank's 2013 successful $175 million recapitalization effort.
Prior to his role at Anchor Bank, Jeff co-founded Metric Tracker, an analytics consulting firm specializing in collections, where he deployed OLAP-based analytics solutions against more than 14 different loan servicing platforms and 10 different dialer systems. He also co-founded Easy Tax Fix, a consumer-facing, web-based property tax appeal service. Jeff developed Easy Tax Fix's property-tax-specific residential home Automated Valuation Model (AVM), and he led the successful cloud-based development and deployment of Easy Tax Fix's online service.
Jeff began his career at Clout Financial Services, a start-up credit card issuer to college students. At Clout, Jeff led the design and deployment of an analytics-oriented customer service, collections and contact management system. He also helped develop a vintage-based model which used actual MOB performance trending and historical averages to baseline forecasts of receivable growth, revenue yield, delinquencies, losses, etc. This model enabled the proactive identification of performance deterioration for this largely subprime, thin-file pool and prompted a successful sale of the ~$250 million portfolio to Bank of America just prior to the 2008 "Great Recession".
Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in Literature and Philosophy with a minor in Russian from Duke University.
Amanda is a Credit Associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where she is engages in the loan review and due diligence functions. Within these functions, her role is to focus on the overall evaluation of a loan portfolio, adherence to federal regulations and to an institutions own policy and procedures. Due diligence reviews may further require completion or testing of an institutions impairments, as it relates to Loan Loss Reserves.
Amanda began her banking career with SunTrust Bank in 2000. She worked in various positions, beginning as a Credit Analyst with the Credit Department in Ocala, FL. Over her 10 years with the organization, she worked in several cities and states, the last being Charlotte, NC as a Portfolio Specialist III, overseeing individual loan/deposit portfolios for 13 client advisors within the Private Wealth Management Division for the state of South Carolina and Western North Carolina.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Banking & Finance from the University of Georgia.
Ron Coleman is a Credit Associate with Credit Risk Management, LLC where he focuses on loan review and due diligence functions. His experience with CRM includes leading credit reviews and providing consultative feedback regarding loan underwriting, credit processes and other credit related issues.
Prior to joining CRM, Ron worked for 28 years in community banking with Lexington State Bank, Lexington, NC with responsibilities ranging from commercial lender to Senior Credit Officer and Head of Credit Administration. Ron's duties as Head of Credit Administration included credit policy development, oversight of the loan review function and loan loss analysis. Ron also worked for BB&T in Martinsville, VA as City Executive responsible for new business development and portfolio management.
Ron holds a BSBA degree with a concentration in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ron is also a graduate of the NC School of Banking and the RMA - ECU Commercial Lending School.
Mick Crawford is an Associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where his main focus is on Loan Reviews and Due Diligence projects. Prior to joining CRM in September, 2011, Mick was a Business Banking Risk Manager for RBC Bank USA where he focused on adjudicating and underwriting commercial loan renewals and performing annual reviews within the commercial loan portfolio. Prior to his Risk Manager role at RBC, Mick worked as a Senior Relationship Banker with the Bank.
Mick began his career as a fundraiser at East Carolina University where he was Assistant Director of the ECU Educational Foundation, Inc. (Pirate Club).
Mick holds a Masters of Science in Sports Administration from Florida State University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Managerial Accounting from East Carolina University.
Terri Fogel is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. She participates and leads in regular and special loan reviews. She has 25 years of experience in all aspects of commercial lending, credit approval and credit administration. Terri has worked with Credit Risk Management since October, 2010.
Prior to joining CRM, Terri was employed by Wachovia/First Union National Bank as a Business Banking, Small Business, Wealth Management and Special Assets Risk Manager as well as Internal Credit Risk Review Officer. Prior to this, she worked as a Senior Credit Analyst/Special Assets Officer for First Citizens Bank, Small Business Loan Administrator for Branch Banking and Trust Company and she managed the Credit Division, REO Management and Subsidiary Operations of Conservatorship Bank Estates for Resolution Trust Corporation, Valley Forge, PA.
Terri attended Pennsylvania State University (Business Administration/Real Estate) and Montgomery County Community College.
Clay Gaitskill is a Director within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on the development and implementation of credit training and credit policy. He teaches C&I lending; commercial real estate lending; municipal and non-profit lending; leveraged lending; appraisals/valuation methodologies; problem loans; as well as product specific training for CRM Toolbar and the Credit Leader Suite.
Clay is also involved in traditional due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and recapitalization efforts as well as FDIC Loss Share transactions. His experience with CRM includes leading and assisting on-site due diligence/loan reviews relating to the credit quality of loan portfolios; leading FDIC Loss Share due diligence projects on loan portfolios for potential acquirers; and credit training in varying complexities. Prior to joining CRM, Clay was First Vice President and Risk Officer within the Real Estate Special Assets Group of SunTrust Bank, N.A where he focused on risk and loss mitigation for troubled assets within the Bank's real estate finance portfolio located in Central and Eastern North Carolina. Prior to his Special Assets role at SunTrust, Clay worked as Group Vice President and Team Leader in the Commercial/Business Banking line of business and as Vice President and Commercial Lender as well as Assistant Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager, all at SunTrust Bank.
Clay began his career with PNC Bank in the Retail line of business as a Licensed Branch Sales Manager.
Clay holds a B.A. in Political Science from Miami University located in Oxford, Ohio.
Jeff Hall is a Director at Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on the creation and maintenance of various Credit Modeling tools both for in house purposes and client development. His experience with CRM includes extensive loan review, due diligence and analytical duties with the company. He has led over 20 due diligences in the past 3 years. Additionally, Jeff has had extensive development roles in all of CRM's technical credit models, including: CRM's Toolbar, CRMA, the CRM ALLL model and the Loss Distribution Model.
Jeff began his career at Guaranty National Bank. He transitioned from Teller to Economic Analyst to Interim Credit Administrator. He was responsible for monitoring portfolio policy compliance and asset quality, developing work out strategies for individual loans and budgeting and financial reporting. Additionally, he was the staff co-chair of the ALCO committee and was responsible for overseeing the day to day interactions with regulators and auditors as necessary along with financial and loan presentations to the Board of Directors.
Jeff holds a bachelors degree in Economics from Florida State University.
Randal Inman is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on due diligence data modeling and management. His experience with CRM includes due diligence loan sampling, pre-review reporting for due diligence and loan reviews, due diligence modeling and report preparation, and loan review report preparation. Prior to joining CRM, Randal was a Senior Financial Analyst in Corporate Development for Wachovia Corporation, and was involved in many of their largest acquisitions.
Randal began his career at First Union Corporation in Asset/Liability Management, where he focused on interest rate sensitivity forecasting, including off-balance sheet instruments.
Randal holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from Wake Forest University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors Economics from Kenyon College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Queens University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute and the North Carolina CFA Society.
Wendy Maar is a Credit Associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where she focuses on loan review and participates in due diligence. Her responsibilities with CRM includes conducting reviews to assess underwriting, credit quality, repayment ability, accuracy of risk grade and compliance with bank's policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Prior to joining CRM, Wendy was a Commercial Loan Officer at Citizens Financial Bank in Munster, Indiana where she focused on new business loan production and portfolio management. Prior to her Loan Officer role at Citizens Financial Bank, Wendy was a Credit Analyst at the same Bank as well as Charter One Bank in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Wendy began her seven year career at Ford Motor Credit where she worked in the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada office as a Customer Services Representative. She later assumed several roles to include a Credit Analyst and Customer Service Team Leader in the Toronto and London, Ontario offices of Ford Motor Credit as well as a related division, Primus Automotive Financial Services. Prior to leaving, she was a Regional Operations Analyst at the corporate office in Oakville, Ontario.
Wendy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
James T. "Tim" Merritt is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on consultation, development and training of credit manuals and related products and services. His experience with the company includes regular and Due Diligence loan reviews, along with advising clients on best practices to consider when addressing regulatory related issues arising from current examinations, including enforcement actions and timely resolution(s).
Prior to joining CRM, Tim worked for over seventeen years as a bank regulator with the FDIC and the State of North Carolina Banking Commission. He has served as an examiner in all areas of safety and soundness, including Information Technology. During his tenure with the State of North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks, Tim also served as the Director of Offsite Analysis, where he supervised a group of examiners that began efforts to streamline examination processes using current technologies and improved monitoring processes for up to 93 state chartered banks. He has over 1300 hours of regulatory related training sponsored by the State of North Carolina, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, and has received designation as a Certified Examination Manager.
Andy joined CRM in 2013. He brings over 10 years of retail and commercial banking experience. His capabilities include loan origination/underwriting, portfolio/asset management, underwriting, risk grading, software conversion, and advisory services.
He has worked as a retail and commercial lender with national and super-regional financial institutions. He has also assisted a community bank in building and converting its core and loan origination system. His experience includes managing a $1B commercial loan portfolio, writing credit policy manuals, facilitating underwriting and sales training, and managing a team of credit analysts.
Andy earned a Master of Business Administration from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Kansas State University.
Matt Orr is a Credit Analyst and Credit Team Leader with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on Loan Reviews, Due Diligence, Loss Share and Agricultural Loan Reviews. His experience with CRM includes providing consulting services in credit analysis and processes relating to the credit quality of loan portfolios. Through a written overview, Matt provides findings and recommendations with respect to credit portfolios, credit policies and procedures for each client, in addition to meetings on-site with Bank Management and Directors. Prior to joining CRM, Matt was a Business Lender with Capital Bank where he focused on small business and commercial lending. Prior to his Business Lender role at Capital Bank, Matt worked as a Mortgage Lender with SunTrust Bank and prior to that, he worked as a Credit Team Leader with BB&T, in which he was responsible for 15 branches in West Georgia and Eastern Alabama overseeing Retail and Business Lending.
Matt graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Banking in 2002 while working with BB&T. He also received a BS degree from East Carolina University in 1996.
Larry Poole is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on managing client banks' Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss (ALLL) models; conducting ALLL methodology reviews; participating in loss estimate model consulting and implementation; and performing loan review work for both client banks and due diligence engagements.
Prior to joining CRM, Larry served as a Credit Analyst with First Chicago Bank & Trust in Chicago, IL where he managed a $4.0 million Commercial & Industrial real estate portfolio and supported six senior lenders. Prior to his time at First Chicago Bank & Trust, Larry successfully completed LaSalle Bank National Association's (now Bank of America) six-month commercial credit training program in Chicago, IL.
Larry holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2006. Larry is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at East Carolina University located in Greenville, NC.
Eric Rackley is a Director within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. with primary responsibilities related to credit modeling, stress testing, and due diligence work with specific focus on FDIC assisted loss share transactions. His due diligence experience with CRM includes leading onsite credit review and modeling efforts for mergers, acquisitions, loss share transactions and recapitalization efforts. Additional duties with CRM consist of Consulting Projects, Training, and providing functional expertise for product development efforts.
Prior to joining CRM Eric was Senior Manager of Reporting and Planning for Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS), the world's largest global provider of banking and payments technologies. At Fidelity Eric lead efforts related to the financial integration of multiple acquisitions and was a project lead on a multi- million dollar implementation of Oracle Financials. Prior to his experience with FIS, Eric worked at Winn-Dixie Stores (WINN) where he oversaw the team of analysts responsible for the company's PeopleSoft General Ledger and Financial Reporting Systems.
Eric began his career at Guaranty National Bank of Tallahassee, where he worked in both Loan Operations and Credit Administration before taking the role of Interim Credit Administrator. Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Florida State University with a minor in Political Science.
Candace Robertson is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where her focus is on due diligence reviews and problem loan management. She also leads loan review engagements, develops and delivers training on risk management, and contributes to the company's credit policy development area.
Prior to joining CRM, Candace served as EVP, Senior Lending Officer and Risk Manager for an Atlanta based community bank. Her banking experience includes several community bank startups, sales management roles, and a strong background in commercial real estate lending. She worked at Wachovia for 12 years holding a progression of positions from Branch Manager to SVP, Market Manager in Wealth Management. More than 35 years of banking experience gives Candace the analytical skills to professionally serve clients.
Candace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and led the golf team to an NCAA championship. She has completed all Wachovia credit schools, leadership and diversity training. She has served on the boards of several community organizations.
David Shipp is a Director within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on developing and improving the Online Credit Manual, Credit Leader, CRM Training, and providing consultative advice to clients on complex credit questions, credit policy, and credit structure. Prior to joining CRM, David was the Chief Credit Officer for Piedmont Community Banks, LLC and North State Bank. Prior to his roles at Piedmont and North State, David was a Senior Credit Officer at First Union/Wachovia for the Corporate, Commercial, Real Estate, Wealth and Community segments.
David began his thirty three year banking career in Texas first as a Corporate Banker for First National Bank, Dallas, TX, and a Commercial Banker for J.P. Morgan Chase, Austin, TX.
David holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Texas, at Austin and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina.
Dan Stewart is an associate at Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where his experience includes leading credit reviews. Dan has worked on due diligence engagements, loss sharing analysis, and special projects involving asset-based lending and SBA loans.
Prior to joining CRM, Dan was Market President for CommunityOne Bank, where he led a commercial loan development team, five consumer offices, and an administrative staff. Dan worked for Catawba Valley Bank, where his responsibilities included Special Assets Management, Senior Credit Officer, and serving as Interim President during the bank's acquisition by CommunityOne Bank. Dan was previously a Senior Lender at Bank of Granite and began his banking career at Bank of America, where he received formal credit training, worked in financial planning, account analysis management, and served as a Commercial Relationship Manager.
Dan holds a masters degree in Business Administration from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University. He also has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University. He is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Banking.
John Voigt is a Director at Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on developing and implementing credit loss models. Prior to joining CRM, John was a VP-Director of Risk Strategy at HSBC where he led the development and operation of economic capital and stress test models for their U.S. operations. He was also deeply involved in the implementation of their Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) under Basel II.
Prior to his role at HSBC, John worked in Risk Management at Discover Financial Services, where he developed loss forecasting models for their credit card portfolio. He began his career at Motorola, serving in both engineering and international product management roles.
John holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from DePaul University and a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois – Urbana. John holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Tom joined CRM in 2012. He is a commercial, real estate finance and investment professional with 25+ years of diverse experience. His capabilities include loan origination/underwriting, portfolio / asset management (especially restructurings / workouts), acquisitions/ dispositions (especially sourcing, structuring / negotiating, due diligence, underwriting, valuation, and transactional management/execution), debt financing, equity investment, and advisory services.
He has substantial experience with leading global institutions, including Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Ernst & Young LLP, and Sumitomo Trust & Banking.
Tom has an MBA from The University of Notre Dame and a BSBA with a concentration in Accounting from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Pete Williams is a Director within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on the company's review practice, associate development, and internal process management. His experience with CRM includes leading loan review engagements, providing advice on best practices in portfolio management, and general consultation on a wide variety of banking issues. Prior to joining CRM, Pete was an EVP and regional manager for First Citizens Bank headquartered in Raleigh, NC. He has also worked with BB&T and First Union in a variety of credit policy and sales management roles. All told, Pete brings 30 years of banking experience which he uses to assist clients in crafting solutions to business issues.
Pete holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He is a graduate and former instructor for the North Carolina School of Banking. He has also had extensive professional training in the areas of leadership, credit underwriting, and sales management.
Brian Edwards is a Documentation Specialist within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on reviewing loan documents and consulting bank personnel on best practices and procedures. His experience with CRM includes providing due diligence work relating to the documentation quality and state required procedures for many bank portfolios; providing consulting regarding policy and procedure issues for imaging, loan documentation and bank organization in the loan review process and staying current with State and Federal Bank requirements.
Prior to joining Credit Risk Management, Brian was the Real Estate Department Manager for Pinna, Johnston & Burwell P.A. where he was responsible for all aspects of commercial and residential real estate closings including title research, preparation and drafting of closing documents, and closing coordination. Additional duties included research and drafting documents as they pertained to business formation and estate administration. Brian has also worked as a North Carolina state licensed appraisal trainee assisting in approximately 200 residential appraisals.
Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University. In addition to maintaining his North Carolina Appraisal Trainee License, he is a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker and a North Carolina Notary Public.
Karen Gilmore is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. specializing in documentation and compliance since joining the company in 2007. Her primary focus within CRM is external loan review, which includes reviewing commercial and consumer loan packages and credit presentations to ensure that conditions, terms or requirements imposed by loan authorities have been met; reconciling lien searches and title work to validate and ensure proper lien priority; and verifying compliance with Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. As a documentation lead on external loan reviews, Karen is also responsible for consulting with clients regarding documentation deficiencies, offering guidance for remediation of errors, providing loan review findings for documentation and compliance in writing and communicating those findings to clients post-review.
Prior to joining CRM, Karen was a Paralegal with Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens LLP where her main focus was assisting a Chapter 7 Trustee in all stages of bankruptcy estate administration, including serving as the Trustee's Clerk and taking minutes at all Section 341 meetings; drafting and filing motions, applications, and interim reports; updating case statuses through Trustee Case Management Support software; arranging sales with auctioneers; consulting with the Trustee's accountant regarding debtor tax matters; and maintaining estate bank account ledgers, preparing deposits and disbursing estate funds. Additionally, Karen provided case management support for a foreclosure attorney and prepared incorporation and organizational documents for a corporate attorney. Prior to her Paralegal position with Everett Gaskins, Karen served as a Litigation Support Assistant with King & Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia, where she supervised a team of document coders in various complex commercial litigation projects.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University in Early Childhood Education with K-4 Teaching Certification. She subsequently received her Paralegal Certification through the ABA accredited Legal Assistants Program at Meredith College, specializing in Civil Litigation.
Laurie Hayes is an Associate at Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. as a Documentation Specialist. Laurie focuses on the documentation and compliance aspect of loan review. Her experience with CRM includes providing leadership during on site loan reviews and thorough review of documentation within a lender's portfolio.
Laurie has a degree in Liberal Arts from West Virginia University and in Paralegal Studies from Delaware Technical and Community College. Prior to joining CRM, Laurie was a transactional paralegal with both large and small law firms in Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Florida. In addition, she worked with Jones, Lang, LaSalle in New York as a property administrator in connection with global asset and real estate management; and later with Harbour Realty Advisors as a leasing financial analyst in Florida.
Steve joined CRM in 2012. He is a regulatory risk, compliance, and audit professional with 30+ years of diverse experience in the financial services industry. His capabilities include: regulatory risk management; regulatory compliance, compliance management and compliance management program development; fair and responsible lending; Community Reinvestment Act programs; internal audit and internal audit management. Prior to joining CRM Steve was the Director of Regulatory Risk Management for StellarOne Bank and was responsible for developing and coordinating regulatory compliance processes for the bank that ensured compliance with all applicable banking regulations and laws. He provided direct oversight for Consumer Compliance, BSA & AML, Fraud, and regulatory relations.
He has had prior compliance/compliance management or internal audit/internal audit management experience with Capital One, First Citizens, Wachovia and several other moderate sized financial institutions.
Steve has a BS in Business Administration (Accounting Major) from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He also is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Bank Auditor.
Betsy Jones has been with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. since 2002 where she focuses on loan, deposit, and BSA regulatory compliance with an expertise in fair and responsible lending. Her experience with CRM includes providing compliance reviews for loans, deposits, BSA and fair and responsible lending; customized training; and development of compliance management systems which include policies, procedures, training and monitoring controls. In addition she is responsible for the regulatory compliance sections of the credit manual and is the author of the quarterly Compliance Corner. She provides compliance seminars for our clients as well as for bankers associations such as the Alabama Bankers Association. Prior to joining CRM, Betsy was the Lending Compliance and Fair Lending Manager for First Citizens Bank where she focused on developing and overseeing that the control systems were effective to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; researched and implemented policies and procedures in response to regulatory changes; and developed a close working relationship with the FDIC and OTS. Prior to going into compliance, Betsy was Audit Manager of First Citizens responsible for four audit team's review of 380 branches, all loan areas of the bank, and a banking subsidiary chartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to Betsy's 15 years at First Citizens she worked as a Regional Auditor for AmSouth Bank in Birmingham, Alabama.
Betsy received her BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she holds her North Carolina Real Estate Broker's license, and is a Certified Bank Auditor as well as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager.
Belinda Phelps is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where her focus is on documentation review within community financial institutions. Her experience with CRM includes providing evaluations of loan portfolio quality, verification of security interest perfection, and evaluation of compliance with bank's written policies and regulatory laws.
Prior to joining CRM, Belinda was a legal assistant with the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP in Nashville, TN where she focused on complex commercial real estate transactions including development, acquisitions and dispositions of hospital systems, life insurance companies and major fuel and convenience store chains in multi-state transactions. Prior to her position at BABC, Belinda worked as a real estate and civil litigation paralegal with the law firm of Connor, Bunn, Rogerson & Woodard, PLLC in Wilson, NC and as a commercial loan documentation specialist with Branch Banking & Trust in Wilson, NC.
Belinda attended Wilson Community College in Wilson, NC and Johnson Community College, Smithfield, NC.
Matthew Aaron Smith, Esq., is an Associate within Credit Risk Management, LLC where he is a member of both the loan review and due diligence documentation teams. Specifically, Mr. Smith provides review of client loan documentation to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations as well as the client's internal standards. Prior to joining CRM, Mr. Smith was an associate litigation attorney with Watson Law Group where he focused on insurance defense, subrogation and coverage. Prior to his time at Watson Law Group, Mr. Smith practiced general civil litigation in Pennsylvania. Mr. Smith's years of experience as a trial attorney make him ideally suited for the detailed nature of loan documentation review. Mr. Smith holds a Juris Doctor from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While at Dickinson, Mr. Smith was awarded the CALI Award for highest grade achieved in Comparative Constitutional Law. He additionally received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Mr. Smith is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, The United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the State of North Carolina.
Madge Sofia is a Documentation Specialist with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. since 2006 where her responsibilities include the legal research and drafting of state specific documentation sections for the CRM Credit Manual; researching and drafting of articles for the "Doc Corner" quarterly manual updates; and Documentation Project Leader on regular and Due Diligence loan reviews.
Prior to joining CRM, Madge worked in the Legal Department of the Comprehensive Consulting Group, Inc in Melville New York where she was responsible for the preparation of employee benefits plans, regulatory restatements and plan administration, as well as, the preparation of health care plans, regulatory restatements in accordance with ERISA and HIPPA mandates and requirements.
She was employed by the Law Firm of Carman, Callahan & Ingham in Farmingdale NY where she was a Paralegal and Section Supervisor responsible for the management of a staff of five - processing real property transactions from contract to post closing activities; processing of family law files from intake to judgment; and, the processing of estate planning files from intake to execution of prepared documentation.
Madge was a paralegal at the Law Offices Attonito & Schoepflin, Esquires in Smithtown, NY where she expanded her knowledge of real property, contract and family law. She began her legal career as a paralegal at the Law Office of Sandra S. Sgrio in St James NY.
Madge graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the National Honor Society from Suffolk County Community College in Selden, New York with an Associates Degree from an A.B.A. approved paralegal program.
Melissa Solomon is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where her focus is on documentation review within community financial institutions. Prior to joining CRM, Melissa was a Real Estate Paralegal for C. Ray Joyner, Attorney at Law, located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina from 2007 to 2013. Her focus was on processing and completing consumer and commercial real estate closings. Melissa completed loan closing packages, prepared HUD-1 Settlement Statements, Preliminary and Final Title Opinions and performed limited title searches. She also reviewed surveys, plats, and title commitments. Melissa prepared transaction specific conveyance documents including 1031 exchanges, corporate formation documents and estate planning documents.
Melissa was employed with Investors Title Insurance Company as a Regional Title Insurance Underwriter from 2001 to 2007. Licensed in NC, VA and SC, Melissa travelled extensively between the company branches with her primary functions being the receipt and fulfillment of requests for title insurance commitments and/or policies, ensuring underwriting requirements have been fulfilled. Melissa has a full understanding and ability to apply title insurance underwriting principals.
Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude from South University in Savannah, Georgia. She also has an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Wilson Community College in Wilson, North Carolina, graduating with highest honors and was the first recipient of the Dovey E. "Kim" Watson, Jr. Award for her outstanding academic record. Melissa is a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal and a Notary Public.
Melissa Eakin is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where she is a technical writer and editor, providing maintenance support's active Online Credit Manual clients. Prior to joining CRM in 2010, Melissa worked as Technical Writer for SchoolDude.com for three and a half years, where she wrote extensive user manuals for each of their online software products.
Melissa is a graduate of East Carolina University where she studied creative writing and psychology. After graduation, she worked as a teller at Four Oaks Bank and Trust, as well as at First Federal Bank in Dunn, Benson, and Fuquay-Varina, where she was also the Vault Custodian.
Michael Leck is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. since 1999 and handles maintenance of client policy and procedures manuals. Prior to joining the company he designed and developed policy manuals, procedure manuals, user guides and online help for all divisions of First Union Mortgage Corporation. After being promoted to manager of the Documentation and Special Projects function, his role expanded to include various corporate-wide initiatives including: designing, developing and implementing multiple corporate newsletters; designing and managing employee surveys; managing employee 360° surveys; employee career development and training; and various employee appreciation events including the yearly awards dinner.
Prior to his time at First Union Mortgage, Michael worked for Commercial Credit Corporation beginning as a collector, then as a Consumer Lender. He was later promoted to the Assistant Manager of the Sales Finance Center helping to start the Center and build up the business volume.
While with SunTrust Bank, Michael began as a vault teller later moving to line teller, Foreign Exchange, Commercial Loan Operations (supporting loan officers and management by handling loan documentation and collateral) and then Wire Transfer.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University and the AIB Foundations of Banking certificate.
Steven Price is an associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on the development and maintenance of loan policy manuals, provides CRM Toolbox training and serves as a documentation specialist within the loan review function.
Steven's career began with Credit Risk Management, LLC in June of 2004. Since that time Steven has participated in over 200 loan reviews and due diligences, including the presentation of findings to executive management and the Board of Directors. In addition to serving in the loan review function, Steven consults with client banks to define and develop lending policies and underwriting guidelines, and provides training to facilitate the implementation of CRM's policy manual, analytical tools and Credit Leader, CRM's menu-driven underwriting program.
Steven received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Management from East Carolina University in 2003. Subsequent to undergraduate studies, Steven attended Meredith College's graduate program where he received his Bar Association accredited Paralegal Certification. He is a former North Carolina Certified Paralegal.
Rob Ridgeway is an Associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on Help Desk development and special projects. His experience with CRM includes ATR/QM software development, ERM projects, and loan review.
Prior to joining CRM, Rob worked with the House Financial Services Committee, where he focused on legislative review of various financial and tax related regulations. Prior to his role at the House Financial Services Committee, Rob worked as an Analyst in the Resource Management Dept. of Verizon Wireless in Charleston, SC.
Rob holds a masters degree in Business Administration from The Citadel. He additionally received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in marketing, from Lynchburg College, and completed one year of study towards his Juris Doctorate at Washington & Lee University School of Law prior to joining CRM.
Gary Choma is a Programmer within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C., where he focuses on the development and maintenance of the CRM Credit Leader application. His experience with CRM includes the packaging and refinement of the Excel-base underwriting workbooks into a more user-friendly, dynamic Excel Toolbar Add-in as well as assisting in the design and creation of the CRM3 ("Cube") application, the CRM website, marketing materials and various internal applications. Since starting his career at CRM in early 2005, Gary has focused his efforts on learning, applying and staying current with some of the latest, cutting- edge open-sourced technologies in web application development. Prior to joining CRM, Gary was a Programmer for 5 years at Investors Title Insurance Company in Chapel Hill, NC where he focused on the maintenance and enhancement of the company's title insurance underwriting system, company website, agency websites and numerous internal IT systems. His greatest contribution to the company was the creation of EFLITE®, a web application for the electronic preparation of title opinions, search forms and other title related documents via the Internet, which integrated directly with the company's internal underwriting application. Prior to his role at Investors Title, Gary worked as a contracted programmer for one year for A.C. Coy Company out of Pittsburgh, PA and 2 years for DB Basics, Inc. from Raleigh, NC where he worked on various assignments in Charleston, WV involving client/server database and web-based systems.
Gary began his programming career in the Information Systems department at Friendly Ice Cream Corporation in Wilbram, MA, initially as a Computer Science Intern, converting immediately into a contracted programmer working on updating various internal database and reporting systems as well as designing custom enterprise business solutions. During this time, Gary was also contracted to develop numerous inventory reports for and enhancements to Northeast Warehousing & Distribution Ltd's custom inventory software in Monson, MA. These early experiences helped shaped his career as a successful and versatile corporate IT programmer.
Gary attended Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA for 1 year as a Graphic Arts major, changing to an Engineering major for 2 years before transferring to Western New England College in Springfield, MA as a Computer Science major with a minor in Mathematics. Gary worked 9 years full-time at LEGO Systems, Inc. in Enfield, CT while attending college for free by taking advantage of LEGO's employer-paid higher education program.
Rick Duke is an IT Associate within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he performs roles of application software development, database administration, and IT support, for clients and staff of CRM. He is currently lead-developer of CRM3 (also known as "the cube"), a loan portfolio analysis and reporting tool used in production of financials and statistical modeling against loan history. He is also lead-developer of Loan Review Manager, an analysis and reporting application used internally by CRM review staff during loan review and special review engagements.
Prior to joining CRM, he was a senior software developer with Investors Title Insurance Company, where for a number of years he was the primary developer over several software applications used in accounting, policy production, and claims tracking. Prior to that, he worked a number of years as a programming consultant, providing informational and accounting-related software, mostly for small businesses in and around the Triangle area.
He is a self-taught programmer and software professional, having been involved with desktop-based computing since its inception in the early 1980's. He holds a bachelors degree in History from Appalachian State University.
Doug Hitchen serves as IT/Security Director for Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he oversees the network infrastructure and is accountable for all computer hardware, software and security supporting CRM operations and secure interfaces with our clients. Doug supports internal staff and consults with clients to help them properly plan for, deploy and support the CRM software products. His career spans over 25 years of diverse experience working in the computer, telecommunication and security field. During this time he has held a number of leadership positions including Security Officer/Infrastructure Architect and Vice President of Information Systems for Investors Title Insurance Company, Founding Partner and Chief Security Officer for eyeNET Security, Senior Consultant, Southeast Area Director of Consulting and Senior Systems Engineer with CompuCom Systems.
Doug attended the University of Toledo in Ohio from 1986 to 1989. He holds numerous industry technical and security certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst (GCFA), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Certified Penetration Tester (GPEN), GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC Gold) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
Paul Wisse is a Director of Client Development within Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. where he focuses on developing and strengthening client relationships. Prior to joining CRM, Paul was the VP of Marketing at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital (the commercial real estate finance subsidiary of BB&T Bank).
Prior to Grandbridge, Paul worked at First Union/Wachovia Capital Markets as Chief Portfolio Strategist and later as National Sales Manager for the Fixed Income team covering community banks.
Paul began his career as a Portfolio Strategist with a subsidiary of the US League of Savings Institutions (now America's Community Bankers) where he worked with community bank managers to improve asset performance.
Paul holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University Of Miami School Of Law and a BA from Framingham State University.
Robert "Bob" Weisenberger is the Director of Management and Planning with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. His primary role is to manage the day to day back office support functions as they pertain to Accounting, Finance, Help Desk Management and Human Resources. Prior to joining CRM, Bob worked with several private and governmental transportation agencies in the tolling industry, as well as several private firms in the Commercial Landscaping and Home Building industries.
Bob began his career in Crystal City, VA working with several Defense Contractors, before transitioning to the privately held Commercial Landscaping Contracting firm Brickman. His initial roles focused on regional and divisional accounting functions. After five years in Northern Virginia, he and his family moved to Raleigh, NC where he successfully ran one the company's landscape maintenance profit centers. After leaving Brickman he worked with a private residential home builder, was the Controller for the NC Turnpike Authority and a senior consultant with the transportation engineering firm Atkins (formerly PBS&J).
Bob received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from East Carolina University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia and North Carolina.
Susan Horton is an Associate with Credit Risk Management, L.L.C. since 2004. She provides support to the Members. Susan began her career in the legal/executive support field in 1992 with a sole practitioner in St. Petersburg, FL. She moved to North Carolina in 1993 where she accepted a position with Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice P.L.L.C. of Raleigh, NC working as a Legal Secretary in various areas of the corporate legal arena. Prior to CRM Susan worked for Morris, Schneider and Prior, L.L.C. as a paralegal conducting title searches and worked in various areas of the foreclosure process. Currently, Susan supports the CRM staff with various office administration needs, including travel arrangements, calendar management and general office duties. In addition to her role as the Executive Assistant, Susan assists with many functions in the Finance, Accounting and HR Departments. These items include payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Client support.
